Pupil Leadership
We believe the best schools have a pupil lead culture where children take on key leadership roles and get their voice heard.
We whole-heartedly value the work of our pupil leaders, using it to shape the teaching and learning that happens at our school. We are moulding leaders of the future, ready for work, ready for the world. We strive to craft confident and articulate leaders who can share their views to any audience and apply their leadership skills to real life situations.
The aim of the various teams within the Pupil Leadership Team is to give children the chance to have leadership within the school, ensuring that their voices and opinions are heard. Through this, we regularly receive pupil voice to make improvements. Therefore, we are giving the children the opportunity to assist with those improvements along our journey of improvement.
At Park Hill Junior School, we actively encourage children to challenge, discuss and debate issues which are important to them. Our children feel safe to share their opinions and viewpoints, and this is gathered through pupil voice surveys, learning walks, class council suggestion boxes and a pupil voice suggestion box at the entrance of the school. The feedback and suggestions the Pupil Leadership team receive from their peers is discussed at regular Pupil leadership team meetings and then acted upon accordingly. Members of the Pupil leadership teams are assigned different roles and overseen by a member of staff.
Pupil leadership teams monitor aspects of the school including the curriculum, the behaviour and wellbeing of pupils at our school and our school environment. This aligns with our PHJS curriculum, a global curriculum with strong aims for ALL learners. Our pupil leaders also support our PE Staff Leader to ensure we fulfil the health and fitness agenda of the Trust and champion an eco-friendly approach to our school environments.
We are very proud of our pupil leaders because they make a difference to all children's school experience.
Our House Captains
(voted into the role by staff)
Our House Captains are carrying out their duties of setting up the hall for assemblies and presenting the certificates and tokens in Merit Assembly with great responsibility. We value their help in showing parents and carers around when we have open afternoons/parent consultations and they are setting a fine example to their house groups in their embodiment of the school values.
